On 2 November 1975 Pier Paolo Pasolini was assassinated.
Despite the courage, value and innovation of his life and work, what characterized his tragical path was the unhealable dichotomy between “Body” and “History”, as a result of ego and ideology never compromised each others.
In my composition for clarinets and live electronics I wished to transfigure in the sound such separation, the almost absolute lack of any dialectic. Although between the acoustic performed part and the real time processed sound there is a tight and dynamic correlation, it happens at the moment and in the metatemporal dimension of space so to deny any kind of reconciler will. All the macro diachronic flowing is developed alternately exposing environments without any adjoining relationship, just to underline once more the metaphysical split.
Finally I care to remark a technical note about the piece. There is no pre ordered and static background tape opposing the live performance. All what you can hear is generated by stochastic algorithms elaborating real time the live sound and soundscape plus few samples of Pier Paolo Pasolini voice.
